Traveling Classroom
Learning Resources
A great many sources of information about Greece are available through school and public libraries, museums, Greek culture groups, Greek folkdance clubs, and perhaps even parents or grandparents who emigrated from Greece. The history of Greece is long and fascinating and its culture is rich. Many of the best things in art, literature, philosophy, mathematics, medicine and government were handed down to us by the Greek people. So it should not be a problem to find an ample supply of learning resources to begin our journey of knowledge.
I have gathered a fair sampling of books and Internet sources that should get you started. I have also included some suggested classroom activities that correspond to the things we will be exploring during our trip to Greece. The most important thing to remember is that all these resources represent the ideas of someone else. If you really want to enjoy this field trip, you must develop some ideas of your own. You must test those ideas by asking questions and interacting with others, and you must arrive at your own conclusions.
